Let’s get your emails charged up with a dose of countdown urgency!
To add your countdown timers into your emails, navigate back to the ‘Design Settings’ tab.
As long as you have saved your Countdown Hero after configuring the core settings, you’ll notice a new code button has appeared next to each of your timers. Clicking this will copy the HTML code to your clipboard so that you can paste this onto your pages.
Once you’ve copied the HTML Code for the Email timer, open the email editor for the specific email that you'd like to add onto the page.
Next, add a HTML block into your email and paste the Email Timer Embed Code that you've copied from Countdown Hero into that field.
Once you've added the timer code, make sure to save & publish your email/s.
IMPORTANT: Combatting 'Image Caching'
A large number of email clients have made the decision to pre-open and cache (store a copy of) the images and GIF's that load in your inbox.
Whilst this does have some benefits as an email user, it does mean that if you're adding your Countdown Hero timer code into multiple emails, the platforms will be caching the image the first time it is opened by your subscriber.
They will then display this same image each time they open an email with that code in it going forwards, with the same time on the countdown as when it was first opened and viewed.
To combat this, we've in-built an 'Anti-Cache' feature inside of Countdown Hero.
Each time you click to copy the HTML Email Embed Code for your countdown, a fresh new snippet of code will be copied to your clipboard. You should then add this code into ONE email only.
Then, if you'd like another email to contain a timer, just copy a new snippet of code that will be auto-generated by Countdown Hero so that you can add this into your new email.
(Repeat this with any number of emails that you'd like to display a timer in)
This process will largely prevent the platforms from storing an old timer as the code links to a 'new' timer in each email.
Using the ‘Other Platform’ Integration
If you’re using the ‘Other Platform’ integration, you’ll notice that inside the HTML code of your Email Timer, there is a section that reads ‘[REPLACE_WITH_EMAIL_MERGE_CODE]’
You will need to replace that entire block with the personalisation code for the email field inside your email platform.
That way, your email marketing platform will be able to merge in your subscribers email address onto the end of the Countdown Hero link and Countdown Hero can then work its magic for your subscribers.
(If you're not sure what this is, you can either Google search for it, or reach out to the support team of your email platform)
NOTE: If you are connected with one of our named integrations, you will not need to replace this personalisation code.
