Page Hero allows you to track how an individual subscriber interacts with a specific webpage and send that information back to your email marketing platform or CRM.
Where Video Hero tracks video consumption, Page Hero tracks page consumption and interaction.
You can currently trigger actions based on:
- Scroll position.
- Time on page.
- An element being clicked.
Setting Up Your Page Hero:
- Create a new Page Hero, choose your integration and give your Hero a clear name and optional label.
- Paste the URL you'd like to track into the Page To Be Monitored field.
- You can use the binoculars/preview icon beside this field to open the page and double-check that you've entered the correct URL.
- (OPTIONAL) Enable Forward Email Address To The Page if you'd like the subscriber's email address to remain available in the URL.
- Choose your first Trigger Type. There are currently three main options:
- Scroll Position - Enter a percentage between 0 and 100. (For example: 50% - Page Hero will trigger when the subscriber reaches 50% of the page)
- Time On Page - Enter the required minutes and seconds. Page Hero will trigger after the subscriber has spent that amount of time on the page.
- Element Clicked - Select a specific button, image or other element on the webpage. Use the element selector to open your page and click the exact item you'd like Page Hero to track.
- Scroll Position - Enter a percentage between 0 and 100. (For example: 50% - Page Hero will trigger when the subscriber reaches 50% of the page)
IMPORTANT: If you later make significant changes to your webpage, the ID or structure of an element may change. If you've edited the page, always double-check your Page Hero afterwards and re-select the element if required.
Choose the Action that should happen when your trigger occurs. Available actions depend on your integration and may include:
- Assign a tag.
- Remove a tag.
- Update a field.
- Add/remove from a list.
- Select the relevant target.
- Use Add Extra Action if several actions should happen from the same trigger.
- If you'd like to track additional behaviour on the same page, click Add Another Trigger. For example, the same Page Hero could track:
- Reached 50% scroll position.
- Spent more than 10 seconds on the page.
- Clicked the Buy Now button.
Don't Track Data Just Because You Can
Page Hero gives you a lot of flexibility — but that doesn't mean you need to track everything.
Before creating a trigger, ask yourself: What am I actually going to do with this information?
If knowing that somebody reached 37% of a page won't change your marketing in any way, you probably don't need to track it.- Once you've created the triggers you actually need, click Save & Get Code.
- Copy the appropriate embed code and install it onto the page you're monitoring. Use the regular webpage code for a normal page or the membership-site version for protected members-area content.
- Publish your page.
Triggering Your Page Hero:
You'll normally have two main subscriber links:
- Thank You Page URL - Use this when somebody reaches the page after completing a form.
- Link Click URL - Use this when linking somebody to the page from an email. These links allow Page Hero to identify which subscriber generated the activity.
Final Checks
Before launching:
- Confirm you're monitoring the correct URL.
- Check your page-element selectors after any major page edits.
- Sync your tags/fields if recently created options aren't appearing.
- Confirm the embed code is installed.
- Turn Test Mode OFF.
- Make sure the Hero is Active.
- Save your changes.
Your Page Hero is now ready to start tracking!
